Prince novella is a must read after you read the Selection. Some spoilers were included on this book, so it's better to read this after The Selection.
I was able to understand the personality of Maxon on this short story. To be honest, I was actually dreaded with Maxon on the first part of the book Selection but this novella explained his characteristics and goodness :D On a side note, I'd like to hate his father's personality because he's so manipulative and doesn't care for Maxon's feelings.
PS: There are teasers on this book for the upcoming The Elite, but I opted not to read it, this time.
