I can’t explain how happy I am that I gave this book a chance. Honestly, I was really hesitant to read the Lux series. I am a big fan of paranormal books, but when I read the blurb on good reads about this book, the aliens kind of disappointed me. Angels, goddesses and immortals are okay for me, but aliens? That’s quite new for me.

New – and WAY TOO REFRESHING for me. This book really took my breath away. I fell in love with Daemon and Kat’s character. Perhaps I am partial, because Kat’s the name of the leading lady, but still their personalities on the book is very pleasing.  5 stars are not enough to rate how much I appreciated and loved this book from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read more of Daemon and Kitty’s love team. Too bad the last installment hasn’t been published yet, so I really have to savor the “Opal.”

Onyx focused on Kat’s training how to handle her super powers. If you’re wondering how she got her super powers, it’s because Daemon had cured on her book 1 which apparently made her a mutant. New characters are introduced on this book. There’s Will – Katy’s mom love interest who happened to be Bethany’s uncle and wanted to be mutated by Daemon. His bad side was revealed on the latter part of the book; though on the beginning, Kat had a great feeling that Will has bad intentions.

Blake – whom I thought is a part of a love triangle, but also a mutant. He acted as a normal guy who seemed to have interest to Kat. But eventually, he revealed his personality to Kat and promised her that he will train her so they can practice and enhance their abilities and fight the DOD. But in the long run, he had other motives and that is to surrender Kat to the DOD so they wouldn’t hurt/kill Chris who healed Blake.

Love interest of Daemon and Kat was more prominent on this book. Daemon started to pursue Kat on his arrogant and little ways. Of course, his sense of humor and the way he tease Kat was more intense on this book. That was actually the fun part on this book.

A lot of secrets were revealed too and believe it or not, Bethany and Dawson are both alive. Now, that’s something to look forward book three. ☻

Shadows (Lux #0.5 by Jennifer Armentrout)

Okay, so I was just curious, why is it that all pre-quel needs to be read right after you read the succeeding sequel? So this is 0.5 and Obsidian is 1. Technically, I should read 0.5 before I jump in to book 1. But since there might be spoilers on the pre-quel, book 1 must be read first. ☻

This book was about Dawson’s story explaining how he fell in love with a human named Bethany. I love this book from beginning to end, and too bad that Dawson’s life was cut short because I wanted to learn more about him. I find his character interesting, though Daemon’s arrogance and mysterious type of guy, oops I meant alien more interesting. His toughness surely added spice on the book.

I was really startled how Dawson loved Bethany – he was so sweet and sounds very promising and at one point, I hope Daemon starts to show that same affection with Kat on the 3^rd book. Reading this book made me understood why Daemon was so arrogant and not really fond of humans – because a part of him blamed the humans for his brother’s unfortunate and sudden death. 

Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer Armentrout

All praises for this book. Lux, Arum, Obsidian- Aliens wow! This book is quite refreshing to read most especially that I've been into heart wrenching and angel books lately. The influx of vampire and wolves books made this series more interesting to read. It is unique and full of action scenes. There were no dull moments when I started reading Obsifian. I can't take my hands off the book during my free time and was so eager to end the book so I can move on to the next series and find out the ending! 

Fun to read because there are a lot of funny scenes. At one point, I wanted to really laugh out loud when Dee and Daemon were fighting over ice cream.

Daemon and Kat's love and hate relationship made it even more interesting. They fight like a cat and dog and afraid to face the reality that they are really attracted with each other. Daemon's character, a douche, jerk and arrogance added spice on the book too. And I forgot to mention, the aliens here are way too hot to handle. Right now I have a different perspective when it comes to aliens. It is no longer the green eyed slimy bug that I've always thought of. And if in reality aliens really do look like the Blacks and the Thompsons, I want to make friends with aliens!
